Forest School Growing and Eating

Forest School

In 2012, we introduced our now much-loved Forest School to Secret Garden. This is a Scandinavian initiative that helps children engage with the outdoors in a positive, structured and inspired way. It builds self-esteem and confidence through engaging in the natural outside environment. Involvement in Forest School also teaches children how to manage risks and to problem solve.

The children have enjoyed activities such as building a bug house. This involved developing skills such as planning, measuring, sawing and the safe use of equipment.

Our Forest School is run by a qualified Forest School Leader. It is currently run twice a week in pre-school during term time.

We will be starting up again in September 2014.

We have lots of exciting things planned for the autumn term!

Ofsted say:
"Staff challenge children's thinking during forest school time, which helps promote their curiosity and fascination with the natural world."
