Our People At Play Settling In

Supporting Children at Play

We undertake daily risk assessments in our environment, indoors and outdoors.

However, from a child's perspective, although it is important to learn and grow in a secure environment, they also need to explore their ideas, test themselves and feel brave and successful. We view these as key life-skills.

A little bit of risk in children’s play is normal as they explore their world.  We carefully support children as they increasingly manage their own risk, challenge themselves and develop their competence, for example when babies balance on wooden blocks or when pre-schoolers cut fruit.
